Basic Components of a Photovoltaic System

Established in 2013, Clean Energy Solutions, Inc., has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Ygrene Energy’s Million Dollar Club Award in 2016. From its headquarters in Los Angeles, California, Clean Energy Solutions provides clean solar energy to homeowners, schools, businesses, and nonprofits across the country.

Here are the basic components of a home photovoltaic system:

- Panels. Panels are the black or blue slabs visible on the roofs of homes, schools, and businesses and other organizations. They are made up of smaller units called solar modules, which are comprised of minute solar cells. The solar cells trap photons from beams of sunlight, energizing electrons into a direct current (DC) that is then fed into an inverter.

- Inverter. The inverter converts DC into alternating current (AC), which is more compatible with grid power. This AC power is then sent to the home’s main electrical panel for distribution into the home.

- Mounting equipment and tracking mounts. Whereas mounting equipment keeps solar panels in place on a roof, tracking mounts are relied upon to move the panels slowly throughout the course of the day, tracking the movement of the sun so that the panels absorb as much sunlight as possible.

- Wiring and fuse box connections. These are minor hardware connections that support the flow of electricity from the solar panels into the mains circuit.

Solar Energy Costs - Facts and Figures

Since its inception in 2013, Clean Energy Solutions has provided sustainable power sources to clients across Los Angeles, California, and beyond. Thanks to a partnership with the San Bernardino school district, Clean Energy Solutions has helped 77 schools and numerous community families take advantage of solar energy's cost savings.

As solar energy has decreased in cost over the past 40 years, most notably in the past seven years, prevalence of use has increased dramatically. A panel that would have cost $101.5 per watt in 1975 cost just $0.557 per watt in 2016, which translates to a price difference of more than 2,200 percent.
Even since 2010, costs of solar panels have decreased by approximately 70 percent.

The cost of solar panels are minimal once installed. Homeowners who rent or lease their panels often receive free maintenance services from the company that owns the panels, while those who buy receive a 30 percent tax incentive from the federal government. Homeowners typically pay off installation costs in less than 15 years and may be able to do so in as few as two, depending on applicable incentive programs.

Meanwhile, the homeowner receives a supply of free energy. If the home's solar panels can meet all of the household's energy needs, this means an average savings $1,300 per year on electricity bills.

Benefits of Rooftop Solar Panels

Active in providing solar energy to individuals and organizations in greater Los Angeles, California, Clean Energy Solutions enjoys offering sustainable, cost-effective options for power. Now expanding to the East Coast and Latin America, Clean Energy Solutions already has provided rooftop solar panels to homeowners across the San Bernardino school district.

Rooftop solar panels not only provide financial savings to homeowners, they offer economic, social, and environmental benefits to the community. By reducing the amount of fossil fuels burned to power a home, panels reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants.

Solar panel installation also benefits society as a job creator. In 2014 alone, the solar power industry grew at a rate 20 times higher than the economy at large. Solar companies now employ workers in all 50 states, and because many installations take place in populated towns and cities, a number of these jobs are local. Meanwhile, the industry is investing close to $15 billion in the U.S. economy.

At the individual level, solar panels can translate to a significant savings in utility costs. A five-kilowatt solar system can provide between 66 percent and 75 percent of a household's average energy needs, and many days it can meet 100 percent of those needs. Savings also come in the form of federal income tax credits for installation, which often combine with state and local rebates as well as renewable energy use credits.

Solar Energy Growth Continues

Clean Energy Solutions in Los Angeles, California, was honored in 2015 with the Highest Sales Growth Award from leading solar energy company Sunnova. Within three years, Clean Energy Solutions has grown more than 4,500 percent. The company is in the process of extending its services to the East Coast, Mexico, and Latin America.

Solar photovoltaic panel use on residential, commercial, and institutional buildings grew by more than 50 percent between 2008 and 2014. The United States solar market added more than 2,000 megawatts of new capacity within the first quarter of this year alone.

California is leading the solar energy rise in the United States, contributing 16 percent of the nation's market. Large companies have also contributed to the booming solar energy market. Walmart, Apple, Target, and Amazon are all trying the new energy source by using solar panels at their sites.

Not only is solar energy gaining prominence in the United States, it is thriving in international markets. According to the International Energy Agency, Germany is the highest producer of solar energy with 38,250 megawatts.

Clean Energy Solutions Education and Installation Times

Clean Energy Solutions is the nation’s fastest growing solar services provider. Based in Los Angeles, California, Clean Energy Solutions posted growth of 746 percent in 2015 alone, despite competing in the world’s most competitive solar energy market.

The company’s extensive growth can be attributed to a simple yet highly effective, triple-pronged business model that emphasizes analytically-driven research, installation processes that are both efficient and timely, and superior client service.

As public awareness regarding alternative energy continues to increase, photovoltaic (PV) installers must work to dispel misconceptions involving PV technology and costs, while at the same time educating clients on the myriad savings and environmental benefits of solar power. When it comes to minimizing installation times, PV installers in California must navigate permitting processes that can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

Clean Energy Solutions responded by greatly refining internal operations, a move that cut into installation times by 75 percent. The company also redesigned its referral program, further expediting installation processes. CALSEIA Supports Solar Installation for Low-Income Residents

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Clean Energy Solutions focuses on solar energy as the most cost-efficient and sustainable energy source, and in only a few short years, it has become the nation’s top solar energy firm. Clean Energy Solutions maintains membership in professional organizations such as the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA).

For over four decades, CALSEIA has worked to expand the use of solar technology. Recently, the association became a leading advocate for AB 693 (Eggman) and the Multifamily Affordable Housing Solar Roofs program. When the bill became law in October 2015, it allowed the installation of solar technologies to benefit low-income tenants in affordable housing projects.

CALSEIA continues to advocate for solar technology for all people and remains a major proponent of programs for residents from disadvantaged backgrounds. For example, the association has supported solar growth proposals for the NEM 2.0 tariff.

Already, CALSEIA has seen increases in the installation of solar energies in impoverished areas. The association remains dedicated to helping low-income sectors achieve higher levels of sustainable energy to attain more equitable distribution and decentralize energy production.

Five Advantages of Solar Energy Solutions

Clean Energy Solutions operates out of Los Angeles, California, and provides clean energy services to a wide range of clientele, including homeowners, businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations. Focused on reliability and low costs, Clean Energy Solutions is a top-growing provider of solar energy systems. Solar energy offers a number of advantages, as outlined below:

1. Protects the environment. The use of solar energy can significantly reduce human civilization’s carbon footprint, as buildings contribute to approximately 38 percent of the United States’ carbon emissions. Traditional energy sources also play a critical role in climate change, which puts countless species and environmental habitats at risk.

2. Reduces electricity bills. Energy-related costs make up a considerable portion of monthly business and household bills. Solar energy systems provide reliable energy at a low cost, which can save users thousands of dollars on an annual basis.

3. Supports energy independence. Replacing traditional energy sources with solar energy increases energy independence for the United States by replacing its reliance on limited resources with a near-infinite natural one. Furthermore, it reduces cost-related difficulties related to fluctuating global markets for gas and oil.

4. Provides jobs. A report by the Solar Foundation indicated that the solar energy created jobs at a much higher rate than the overall US economy in 2015, a trend which should continue to rise because solar industry jobs cannot be outsourced.

5. Offers economic security. No company or market possesses the ability to monopolize sunlight or the sun itself, which provides economic security for communities and regions that switch to solar energy solutions. The limited availability of gas and oil resources requires users of traditional energy systems to abide by market prices and restrictions.
